What a surprise from God, our little Em. She came to us on January 21,1998. I vividly remember the day I found out she was coming. On my way to work that morning I was in a small car accident that took me to the doctors office. If you have read the previous blogs you know that having children for me was not supposed to be. Landon was nearly 3 years at this point and after his birth the female related issues contiued and worsened.
So, arriving at the doctor office after the accident, they were needing to do an xray. The doctor I had seen for the past several years asked per the usual before an xray, "Any chance you are preganant?" I replied,"well, you know my issues and I have no idea, but not likely," since we had tried for the past year.
He responded with,"well, I have to do a test before the xray then." He shortly came back with "well, your pregnant." I fussed back and forth with him for a while about, it can't be so and on and on. He insisted with, "my tests don't lie!" I walked out of there that day without an xray completely in shock and disbelief.
I had an amazing pregnancy, everything about it was absolutely perfect.
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it? Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmites: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8: 24-27
In our weakness, the spirit prays for us. We are limited and ignorant, but the spirit uses unspoken groanings to communicate our needs. This is not speaking in tongues. It is instead wordless. Our heavenly father knows what is happening in our lives and within the deep recesses of our personalities. The Spirit's requests are always in agreemant with the will of God and are always answered. (Commentary from KJV Holman Study Bible)
Emily Alexandra Hope. I hoped and prayed for this child, not even knowing what I needed in my life. I am so thankful God knows exactly what and who we need in our life. No doubt the Spirit made intercession for me for the will of God.
My dad had requested that we have Hope as one of her middle names, and not long after she was born, he famously applied her nick name 'Hopey' to her and she has been Hopey to him until he passed. (Everyone my dad ever knew has had a nickname.)
She was born at 1:20 p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 2 oz and 19 in. long. What a blessing she was. It's been 25 years since that wonderful day. Two weeks later, we dedicated her back to the one who blessed us with her. God has used her in so many ways to be a blessing to others. I hope to share some of those miracles and testimonies in future blogs.
She's always had the heart of a servant and been a prayer warrior since a very young girl. God gave her the gift of caring for others deeply. She became a nurse and spends her days changing lives with her heart and hands.
Her brother wrote a song for her on their latest album,Titanic, called Hands of Jesus. If you haven't heard it, please go listen.
Emily is a daily reminder to me of one of God's promises that he gave me. All of our hope is in Jesus! I look back on my life and remember what I faced and the tears and discouragement, and worry that came along with it; but I can say God gave me beauty for my ashes. Happy Birthday Em. Your the beauty for my ashes.
Remember to praise God through the pain, trust him in the trials. He will come through, we don't always get the answer we want in our prayers, but trusting that he knows what's best will bring your life right into perfect harmony with him. If he gave us everything we asked for, we would have no need for him.
I do know I can tell you this, trust God, believe God, wait for God, always remember God has the best waiting for you.
Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
You never know who's destiny is tied to your obedience.
You never know who's life might be changed through your faithfulness.
